AB2013 Best AMV: Holomon

For those who don’t get the title reference, the music is from Pokemon but the video footage is from Bleach’s Hueco Mundo Arc. I have the entire Arc via Xbox Live and it fits ^_^

Even if you’re not partial to Bleach/Pokemon (I like Bleach and still like Pokemon) it’s still an awesome video.

Clannad: The Place Where Wishes Come True (AB2013) Recap

Some you might not have seen this picture:

I shot this picture Friday before David Matranga’s panel. It’s the room my Clannad panel was done in last night.

The music I wove into the powerpoint breathed new life into the panel coming off from last year. Half the room was packed (about 1000 chairs in the room) so obviously I’m hoping I get this room again next year. The decision to use paper surveys ended up being a good idea as I got some feedback early on to go off of (More on that in a bit). Mr. Matranga didn’t make the panel but that’s alright. I did see something I didn’t see last year: Clannad Cosplayers! There were 3 Nagisas, 2 Tomoyos and a Kyou in the audience. Oddly I didn’t realize I didn’t do a photo op until after I’d left the Hynes.

Getting back to the initial feedback.

For those who were there I do want to first address why I didn’t use video clips and why I will not be doing it next year. Last year I played Episode 24: Small Palms from After Story (Dubbed) to fill the last half hour of the panel. Some folks loved it and some folks didn’t. Then I was advised by someone from Sentai Filmworks (who localized Clannad into English) Fair Use wouldn’t have applied outside that episode. To be safe I decided to just not use video clips. Sorry to those who asked for it but I ask for your understanding. There’s also the fact embedding multiple video clips into a powerpoint are pretty tricky, more so when you que it to only show certain parts of the video clip.

A few folks said they didn’t like the trivia. It did its job of filling in the last 30 minutes in light of what I described above. I’m bringing it back next year but I will make it a little shorter and a little easier.

Everyone loved the music and I can say I will bring it back next year.

A few people said I should have marked some things for spoilers or at the very least said there might be spoilers from the Anime. I did warn about spoilers last year but I forgot to warn folks last night. I apologize to those who had plot events spoiled by me and will warn about spoilers next year.

I’m expecting a few more folks to provide feedback on Anime Boston’s forums over the course of this week. I also gave out links to my WordPress Blogs as well as my email and Xbox Live Account at the end of the panel. Once I’ve gotten more feedback from those areas I will revise this blog post.

I met David Matranga Today + I Bought 2 DVD Sets

By met I mean I actually talked to him one on one ^_^

Dave had a intro panel today in which he covered a number of topics related to Anime, his acting career and the industry in general. After the panel I invited him to my panel on Clannad, which will happen Saturday night from 8:00PM to 9:00PM. He said yes. That instantly upgraded my panel to must-see for the night!

The other Anime related news of the day is I added two more Anime I first saw on Netflix three years ago to my DVD collection:

Samurai Champloo and Shuffle. I saw both on Netflix but went on to buy Shuffle! via Xbox Live two years ago when I had my Zune HD. Rather than buy a second digital copy via iTunes I decided to buy the DVD set. Ironically, Shuffle! was the Anime I set out to buy last year and would have bought it if I saw it before School Rumble.

Last year I got Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple and School Rumble at Anime Boston. Next year I will buy two more DVD sets. I’m looking at Vandread and Angel Beats or Trigun. I’m glad I held off buying Heroic Age, Kaze no Stigma and FLCL on thr Dealers’ Floor. I was able to find them all for far less on Amazon.

I do plan on going back for some Manga on Sunday when everything’s marked down (LOL). I should FINALLY finish my Death Note Manga Set (for real this time) as well as some new volumes for Bleach, Naruto and Ouran High School Host Club. Whew… I am physically spent. My next Anime update will be after my Clannad panel as well as the Swap Meet. Look forward to it ^_^

Clannad: The Place Where Wishes Come True’s Time Slot at Anime Boston

I mentioned on my main blog I was going to change the time, day and room of my Clannad and Ace Attorney blogs with each other. It’s now a done deal. Here’s the new time slot and if you were at Anime Boston last year, this might look REAL familiar…

Room: Panel C

Time: 8:00PM

Day: Saturday, May 25

Duration: 60 minutes

The cool thing is my panel will be next to the Game Room on the third floor of the Hynes Convention Center. This time I will be able to go to the Swap Meet, which starts immediately after my panel is over so…yeah. Know what’s really cool? David Matranga will be having his Guest Panel Friday afternoon at 1:30AM in Panel C! Yours truly WILL be there to personally invite him to come back to Panel C Saturday night for this panel!

One change in terms of the panel itself is there will be a trivia this year instead of a video presentation. The trivia will test your Clannad knowledge and as you know I’ve already made the powerpoint itself available¬† in my previous blog post!

Speaking of Clannad:

Clanad After Story is now available on Xbox Live in both Standard and High Definition. I saw it listed yesterday while looking for an Anime I first saw on Netflix (Vandread). To my surprise Episode 24: Small Palms (A summary of the Anime series) was the only episode left out though interestingly, the option to buy the whole season in full is not available either. I can only hope and assume both are an oversight and Microsoft is actively working to correct both problems. I am also hoping they add Season 1 to Xbox Live as well.

I have both Seasons on DVD of course so I have no interest in buying another season myself. Speaking of my DVD Set, it’s where I’ve been keeping my Anime Boston 2013 paperwork over the last 6 months =D

One other extra special reminder: David Matranga (Tomoya’s English Voice Actor) and Greg Ayers (Youhei’s English Voice Actor) will be at Anime Boston 2013!
